Fitness Floor Policies

  • Members age 14 years of age and older may use fitness floor unsupervised.
     

  • All members must complete Das Rec member orientation. Members ages 12-13 may use fitness floor when supervised by parent or legal guardian. Members ages 10-11 may use cardio equipment and perform body weight exercises and functional training when supervised by a parent or guardian. The use of weights by members 10 years of age and younger is prohibited.
     

  • Members are required to wear closed-toe, non-marking athletic shoes. Shirts must cover the midriff; shorts and pants must be worn at the waist. Jeans, denim, and cargo pants are not allowed.
     

  • Das Rec is a closed-training facility. Only personal trainers employed by the City are permitted to train members/guests. Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of membership privileges.
     

  • Please wipe down equipment after each use.
     

  • Das Rec is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
     

  • Valuables should be locked or stored in a locker.
     

  • Lockers are available for day-use only.
     

  • For safety reasons, gym bags are not allowed on the fitness floor.
     

  • Profanity and yelling are not permitted.
     

  • Dropping weights or fitness equipment on the fitness floor is prohibited.
     

  • Cell phone usage is restricted to the lobby area only. If necessary to take a phone call, please be courteous and leave the fitness floor.
     

  • Personal music must be used with headphones; no radios or loud music are allowed.
     

  • Food is not permitted on the fitness floor. Drinks in closed containers are allowed.
     

  • Equipment should not be removed from the fitness floor.
     

  • During busy times, use of cardio equipment should be limited to 30 minutes. Please allow for others to work out on the weight room floor.
     

  • Das Rec Management reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the fitness floor if policies are not followed.

Turf Yard Policies

  • Members are required to wear closed toe, non-marking athletic shoes. Metal cleats and spikes are prohibited. Sports bras must be covered. Shorts and pants must be worn at the waist and not be excessively revealing
     

  • All food and beverage products, except water, including gum, and shelled seeds or nuts are prohibited. 

  • . Sharp objects such as tent stakes, corner flags, and poles that may penetrate or damage Das Yard are prohibited. 

  • Marking lines onto Das Yard with paint, tape, etc. is prohibited 

  • Spitting on Das Yard is prohibited

  • While using Das Yard, remain aware and alert for incoming weather. It is a large open area and subject to lightening and other weather-related hazards. Follow instruction from staff when applicable. 

  • Suntan lotions, oils or creams of any kind are prohibited. Please apply sunblock prior to entering the turf area. 

  • Please be mindful when using cellphones; limit conversations to a quiet area.

Gymnasium Policies

  • Members must be 14 years of age or older to use the Das Rec gymnasium unsupervised. Members ages 10-13 may use gymnasium when a parent or legal guardian is in Das Rec facility. Members under 10 years of age may use gymnasium when supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
     

  • Members are required to wear closed-toe, non-marking athletic shoes. Shirts must cover the midriff; shorts and pants must be worn at the waist.
     

  • Organized practices, clinics, and/or coaching and training are prohibited. Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of membership privileges.
     

  • Exercise equipment is not permitted in gymnasium.
     

  • Das Rec is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Valuables should be locked or stored in a locker. Lockers are available for day-use only.
     

  • For safety reasons, gym bags are not allowed on the gymnasium floor.
     

  • Profanity, yelling, rough play, and spitting are NOT permitted. All games require good sportsmanship and proper conduct.
     

  • Gambling of any kind is strictly prohibited.
     

  • Grabbing or hanging on the net or rim is prohibited. Please do not throw or kick any balls against the walls or other equipment.
     

  • Food is not permitted in the gymnasium. Water in a closed container is allowed.
     

  • Full-court play is first come, first served. High volume may require courts to be shared to accommodate more participants. Scheduled activities in the gymnasium may take priority over open recreation.
     

  • Das Rec Management reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the gymnasium if policies are not followed.

Pool Policies

  • Members must be 14 years of age or older to use the Das Rec pools unsupervised.
     

  • Parents or guardians of children ages 13 and under must remain in the aquatic area at all times. Guardians must be at least 16 years of age.
     

  • Guardians of children ages 7 and younger must be wearing a swimsuit and actively participating in water within arms-length from their children at all times.
     

  • Running or horseplay of any kind is prohibited.
     

  • Diving is prohibited.
     

  • Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved flotation devices are allowed. Use of toys including, but not limited to, water wings, rafts, inner tubes, noodles, tennis balls, flying discs, face masks, or small rings is prohibited.
     

  • Swim diapers for non-toilet trained patrons are required. Regular diapers are prohibited in the pool. Swim diapers are available for purchase at the Das Rec Guest Services Desk.
     

  • All clothing and diaper changes must be made in designated areas within the family changing room or locker rooms.
     

  • A cleansing shower before entering the pool is required by all swimmers.
     

  • Only properly maintained swimsuits are allowed. Cutoffs or leotards are prohibited.
     

  • Anyone with open cuts, wounds, or communicable diseases will not be permitted in the pool.
     

  • Glass containers and food, including gum and candy, are prohibited in the pool area.
     

  • Das Rec is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
     

  • Hanging, sitting, or climbing on lap lane lines, railings, or safety ropes is prohibited. No climbing or jumping over pool walls.
     

  • Das Rec Management reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the aquatic area if policies are not followed.
     

  • Das Rec operates under American Red Cross policies that state that all pools, indoor or outdoor should be closed during lightning. While the building is grounded and bonded it is not guaranteed that lightning could not strike users in the pool.
     

  • When there is a lightning strike within one mile of Das Rec, the pool will close. The pool will reopen once lightning has not struck within the one miles radius.
     

  • When there is a lightning strike within ten miles of Das Rec, the slide will close. The slide will reopen once lightning has not struck within the ten-mile radius.

  • Das Rec is a closed-training facility. Only personal trainers employed by the City are permitted to train members/guests. Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of membership privileges.

Lap Lane Policies
 

  • Lap lanes are for continuous lap swimming; please use proper lap swim etiquette.
     

  • Circle swimming is required during peak usage.
     

  • Hanging, sitting, or climbing on lane lines, railings or safety ropes is prohibited.
     

  • Please consult the current pool schedule for lap swim availability.
     

  • Schedule subject to change due to programming and events.

Water Slide Policies
 

  • All riders must be at least 48” tall.
     

  • Maximum rider weight is 300 pounds.
     

  • WARNING: Water depth is shallow.
     

  • Non-swimmers are not permitted.
     

  • All riders must ride feet first while lying on their back with arms crossed across their chest. Do not go down the slide head first. Do not sit up while riding the slide.
     

  • Riders must enter the slide in a sitting position and wait for instructions from the lifeguard stationed at the slide starter tub.
     

  • Do not propel yourself into the ride.
     

  • Only one rider at a time. Absolutely no trains or chains of riders are permitted.
     

  • No running, standing, kneeling, rotating, tumbling, or stopping in the flume. Arms and hands must remain inside the flume at all times. Riders should remain in proper riding position until forward movement is terminated. At no time should the rider attempt to stand up while on the slide or prior to coming to complete stop in the splash out area.
     

  • No tubes, mats, or life jackets are permitted on the slide.
     

  • No combs or foreign objects are allowed in pockets and no jewelry can be worn while riding the slide. No cut off jeans or swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets, or metal ornamentation: only approved swimsuits allowed.
     

  • The line should form on the deck with one rider on each landing and one rider in the starter tub. Wait until landing area is clear before entering.
     

  • Members with heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, and those on prescription medication should consult with their doctor before riding this slide. Individuals with medical conditions including, but not limited to: pregnancy, heart, or back problems should not ride.
     

  • Do not use this slide while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
     

  • No diving from slide.
     

  • Leave the splash out area promptly after entering.

Kinder Care Policies

Indoor Track Policies
 

  • All patrons must check in with guest services before entering the facility.

  • Members age 14 and older may use the indoor track unsupervised.

  • Members are required to wear closed-toe, non-marking athletic shoes.

  • Das Rec is not responsible for lost or stolen items; please lock your valuables or store in a locker. For your safety, please store gym bags off the track.

  • Please look before entering the track.

  • Green lane is for walking; gray lane is for running.

  • Track direction changes daily.

  • On ODD days, please run COUNTER clockwise.

  • On EVEN days, please run clockwise.

  • Ten laps equal one mile.

  • Food, drinks and gum are not permitted on the indoor track; water in a closed container is allowed.

  • Exercise equipment of any kind is not permitted on the track unless under the supervision of a fitness staff member.

  • No standing along the railings to watch gymnasium activities.

  • Wheelchairs and walkers are allowed; strollers are not permitted

  • Management reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the fitness floor if the rules are not being followed.

Kinder Care Policies

  • Reservations are required. -- Reserve your spot here
     

  • Children ages 6 months through 10 years are welcome to visit Kinder Care once a day for a maximum of two hours per session. The time limit of two hours is strictly enforced.
     

  • Only parents or legal guardians may drop off and pick up children at Kinder Care. The same parent or guardian who signed the child in must sign the child out.
     

  • Due to capacity limitations, Kinder Care is only for Members. The service is currently not available for day pass holders.
     

  • Parents must remain within Das Rec premises at all times while their child is at Kinder Care. No exceptions. Members found to have left the building will lose their Kinder Care privileges for 30 days and New Braunfels Police may be notified.
     

  • Due to allergens, outside food, drinks, and snacks are not allowed.
     

  • Please change your child or have them use the restroom prior to checking him/her into Kinder Care. If a child needs a diaper change or assistance in the restroom the parent will be notified. Staff will not change diapers.
     

  • Pacifiers and comfort items such as blankets are permitted and must be labeled.
     

  • Medication will not be allowed or administered by staff.
     

  • Toys from home including electronic devices are not allowed. Kinder Care and Das Rec staff are not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.
     

  • Kinder Care participants must be fully clothed. Swimmers must be dry and wear a swimsuit cover. Shoes are required for all walking children.
     

  • As a health standard and courtesy to others, parents are expected to adhere to the Sick Child Policy.
     

Kinder Care Discipline Policy

  • In most cases, re-direction towards other activities will be used as a resolution. Kinder Care staff will assess behavioral issues on a case-by-case basis. Time away will be used to address behavioral issues in some cases.
     

Kinder Care Sick Child Policy

  • Children who have any of the following symptoms are not allowed at Kinder Care:

    • Child has had a fever of 100 or higher within the past 24 hours.

    • Child has vomited within the past 24 hours.

    • Child has watery stool in the past 24 hours.

    • Child has rash not associated with diapers.

    • Child has a sore throat and/or swollen glands causing difficulty swallowing.

    • Child has constant cough.

    • Child has symptoms of possible communicable disease (usually colored nasal discharge, red eyes, sore throat, headache, abdominal pain, fever, and/or skin spots, bumps or patches).
       

If staff observes any of these symptoms during the child’s visit, the parents will be asked to remove the child.

When might a parent be contacted through Procare

  • A child is in need of a diaper change.
     

  • A child is crying for more than ten minutes.
     

  • A child is not following instructions from staff.
     

  • A stay that has exceeded the two-hour time limit.
     

  • A child feels sick.
     

  • Staff feels the child is in need of the parent.
     

  • Staff feels that a child is perceived to pose a danger to themselves or others.

Code of Conduct
All members, participants and/or spectators at Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center are expected to demonstrate courtesy and respect, behave in a responsible manner, exercise self-discipline, respect the rights and privileges of other participants, respect the property of others and city property, cooperate and assist city staff in maintaining safety, order and discipline.

All members, participants and/or spectators at Das Rec will be disciplined for unacceptable behavior including but not limited to the following:
 

  • Endangering the health and safety of other members, participants, patrons or staff.
     

  • Disrupting a program or creating a disturbance at a facility.
     

  • Continuous refusal to follow program and/or facility rules and guidelines.
     

  • Use of verbal harassment, profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, or racial slurs.
     

  • Blatant disrespect of staff and program or facility rules and guidelines.
     

  • Damage, vandalism, or theft of private or City facilities, equipment or supplies.
     

  • Possession or use of illegal substances or medication, including the use of alcohol or smoking.
     

  • Inappropriate or offensive attire. Attire must be appropriate, including swimsuits only in the pool area, and shoes, shorts and shirts in other areas of the facility. Attire that is too revealing and clothing which displays obscene or offensive words or pictures is not allowed. 
     

  • Weapons such as, but not limited to knifes, clubs, brass knuckles or threats of these weapons is prohibited.
     

  • Gang activity including display or possession of symbols, hand signals, soliciting membership, intimidating or threatening and individual, wearing or displaying colors or items of dress, etc.
     

  • Inappropriate display of affection, including but not limited to prolonged kissing and touching of any private area of the body.
     

  • Loitering is not permitted in or outside of Das Rec.
     

  • Cell phone use is not allowed in the locker rooms; please be courteous and refrain from talking on your cell phone while using the wellness floor.
     

  • Supervisory staff has final say on all rule interpretations and may adapt rules if they feel safety is a concern to any patron.  
     

Suspensions
Individuals who chose to disobey the code of conduct or behave unacceptably may be subject to the following types of discipline: conference with supervisory personnel, conference with supervisory personnel and parent or legal guardian for minors, restitution (if applicable), seven day suspension, 30 day suspension, suspension for the year, or other amount of time determined by Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center supervisory personnel. 


Program and/or membership fees will not be refunded for any person removed from a program, league or facility due to violation of the code of conduct. Some programs and/or leagues may have stricter or more detailed behavior policies.

Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center supervisory personnel reserves the right to contact law enforcement at any time in cases of misbehavior.  In extreme cases of misbehavior Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center supervisory personnel may issue a criminal trespassing warning. 


If a complaint is made by a member, participant and/or spectator about another member, participant and/or spectator regarding the code of conduct, supervisory personnel on duty must investigate the issue and discipline the member(s), participant(s) and/or spectator(s) appropriately. 

 

Purpose: To establish specific guidelines and procedures for the appropriate code of conduct at Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center.

 

Procedure
If a complaint is made by a member, participant and/or spectator about another member, participant and/or spectator in regard to the code of conduct, supervisory personnel on duty will investigate, discipline the member(s), participant(s) and/or spectator(s) appropriately and complete an incident report and/or an expulsion report.

  • Supervisory personnel may view the surveillance system to assist them with their investigation.

  • Supervisory personnel will call parent or legal guardian and inform him/her of the incident if the individual is under the age of eighteen.

  • Supervisory personnel may give parties involved a warning but still must fill out an incident and or expulsion report.

  • Supervisory personnel may call the New Braunfels Police Department for assistance.

Membership Cancellation Policies
 

  • Annual Paid-in-Full Membership Refund Policy
    Annual Paid-in full Membership Passes may be refunded at a prorated based on the number of months that have elapsed since the membership was purchased and calculated at the membership rate. An administrative processing fee of $25.00 will be assessed on all annual membership refunds after the initial 30 days. No refunds will be given on expired annual memberships, or for unused time passed in the membership period prior to the date the refund request is received. Payments made by credit card must be refunded in person to the same card type. If the original payment was made by cash or check, you will receive a refund check in 2-4 weeks. No cash refunds will be given.
     

  • Annual Paid-in-Full Membership 30-Day Opt Out Period Policy
    Annual Paid-in-Full Pass holders have 30 days from the date of purchase to request a refund without incurring an administrative processing fee. Requests must be submitted in writing using the applicable form and include the Primary Household contact or Membership Pass Holder's first and last name. One month, based on the monthly membership rate will be deducted from the amount originally paid, Payments made by credit card must be refunded in person to the same card type. If the original payment was made by cash or check, you will receive a refund check in 2-4 weeks. No cash refunds will be given.
     

  • Monthly Membership Cancellation Policy
    The monthly membership will remain in full force until a membership cancellation form is submitted to Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center. There will be no refunds if the membership cancellation form is submitted AFTER the payment due date and the card/account on file was billed for the month. Access to the facility is permitted through the last day of the month of the cancellation. Membership privileges terminate on the first day of the month following the East month paid for.
     

  • Monthly Program/Activity-Cancellation Policy
    The monthly program/activity payment will remain in full force for the calendar year until a cancellation form is submitted to Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center. There will be no refunds if the membership cancellation form is submitted AFTER the payment due date and the card/account on file was billed for the month. Access to the program/activity is permitted through the last day of the month of the cancellation.
