Over 70% of our world is covered in water, and very few people have explored the depths. Now is your chance to SEA for yourself! The course will consist of classroom and pool exercises over six weeks, followed by a weekend of open water dives at Spring Lake in San Marcos, Texas. Equipment will be supplied, but it is recommended that each student purchase their own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins. Discounted equipment packages are available through USA SCUBA for participants.
*March 2-3 times still TBD.

Scuba at Das Rec FAQ:
$600! Why so expensive?
First of all, You are right! $600 is a lot of money for anyone to pay, and some dive shops (not all) offer basic certification for less. Here are some questions you can ask any dive operation when deciding upon who to trust with your training:
Will I learn to use a dive computer as part of my basic course?
We supply Aqualung i300 dive computers to our students.
How many students will be in my class, and how many instructors and professional
Das Rec has set a 4:1 student: professional diver ratio. For extra safety, the allowed ratios are up to 8 divers per instructor, 12 with one assistant. The class is capped at 12 students, a minimum of 3 pros in the water.
Is ALL equipment rental provided? What will I be required to purchase?
Though we encourage and make available personal mask, snorkel, fin and boot packages at a steep discount, we have all the equipment available as part of your course cost. We also extend a sizeable discount which we are unable to advertise to our past and current students on equipment purchases.
Where will my open water checkout dive be conducted?
We use the purpose-built training area at the Meadows Center for the Environment, run by Texas State in San Marcos Texas. This eternal spring is home to several endangered species and remains at 71 degrees, with 75 foot+ visibility year round.
Is there a money back guarantee?
If at any point during training you are unable to complete a required task, we will first work with you individually to solve the issue and refund the entire course fee if the issue cannot be resolved. We will even buy back any equipment (mask, fins, etc.) purchased from us.
Das Rec and USA Scuba invite you to join us on Jan. 24 to discuss diving in person, and for the introduction to the course. We will offer a Discover Scuba to anyone interested.
